Last week Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria, embarked on a regional visit including Lakes Entrance.

The Governor visited a number of local businesses and community organisations including the TAFE SEAMEC at Bullock Island as well as the lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust.

Manager of Maritime Training at SEAMEC, Brad Lancaster, gave an informative tour of the facilities before escorting the governor and her entourage on a boat trip to the entrance and around Rigby Island, being skippered by students of the college.

He noted that Her Excellency enjoyed seeing the landscape and seascape from a different aspect on the water.

The Governor thanked all for an interesting tour and they then proceeded to Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust. Here the Governor met with Brandon Hood, the trust’s executive officer, and was welcomed with a smoking ceremony.

Following this, the governor received a briefing on the history and current operations of the Trust, before being escorted on a tour of significant locations, including the church.
