Coming together

3 March 2025
in Local News

“Warung Kita” is an Indonesian term that translates to “Our Warung.”

A “Warung” is a small family-owned business/eatery, often serving traditional food. The phrase conveys a sense of community and shared experience, emphasising local culture and cuisine.

It typically represents a welcoming space where people gather to enjoy homemade meals and socialise.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Metung, Warung Kita serves as a culinary bridge between European and Asian cultures.

With its welcoming facade and the enticing aroma of spices wafting through the air, this family-owned grocery store is a testament to the rich tapestry of flavours and traditions that define both continents.

Coupled with every thing that the beautiful Gippsland Lakes has to offer.

Displaying “Halal” meats from Primal Meats of Sale, Himalayan Spices and Products from Lakes, Tambo Gourmet Foods, Fresh Farm Eggs, Maffra Cheeses and many more.

What sets Warung Kita apart is its deep connection to the community.

The team is known for its friendly service over the road at Café Chez Joe and is excited to continue the legacy in shop 3/50 Metung Road.

As the grocery landscape continues to evolve, Warung Kita remains committed to its mission of bringing people together through food. The team has plans to expand its offerings, with other delicious traditional items from their heritage and locally available beautiful offerings.

They envision a future where their store not only serves as a grocery but also as a community hub for culinary exploration and connection.

In a world that often feels divided, Warung Kita stands as a reminder of the power of food to unite us, celebrating the flavours of both Europe and Asia while fostering a strong sense of community by displaying local available products at your door step.

For anyone looking to embark on a culinary adventure or simply find comfort in familiar tastes, this family-owned grocery store is a treasure waiting to be explored.

Warung Kita is open seven days, 9.30am to 5.30pm.
