Lakes Entrance U3A is off to a great start in 2025 including moving into new headquarters and will celebrate 20 years of incorporation this year.
After many years of collaborating with The Lakes Masonic Lodge they are excited to move into their new premises in the old Lake Tyers Beach Angling Club rooms situated at the Lake Tyers Beach Road Recreational Reserve.
U3A has been busy settling in and enjoying the beautiful surrounds. Some classes will meet at alternative venues including Lakes Entrance Bowls Club due to clashes in timetables, line dancing at the Senior Citizens Hall and the walking groups setting off from the rotunda.
“Sadly, some members chose not to renew their membership this year for a variety of reasons, but new members have been keen to join and the future is looking positive,” publicity officer Caroline Kondys said.
The musical groups and the film group are getting into the swing of things. Those who enjoy a more cerebral challenge are enjoying various games classes, cryptic crosswords, history and the current affairs discussion group. Creative types are catered for with the craft and sewing group and photography. If learning a new language is on your list of things to do in 2025 then conversational French has you covered. There is something for just about everyone.
The committee is always looking for new ideas for classes and workshops and there are some interesting opportunities in the works for later in the year. Watch this space.
“If you are retired or semi-retired and would like to keep the brain ticking over and make new friends, why not consider trying a session or two to whet your appetite. You can attend any class once to see if it is up your alley without having to take out a membership,” Caroline said.
