There has been no shortage of quality catches in East Gippsland waters with anglers enjoying the summer conditions.

Lakes Entrance – Cunninghame Arm to Metung, kingfish and whiting are biting well on local prawn, also try mussels and pipis. The footbridge for gurnard, trevally, and snapper. Surf beach for gummies. Offshore are landing nice sized gummies and salmon. Prawns are still abundant in the lake.

Lake Tyers – The entrance is now open. Surf beach for salmon, using metal lures, pilchards and squid, give Lake Bunga a go as well.

Mitchell River – Anglers are having good results fishing for bream along the Silt Jetties, with cut crab and local prawn.

Tambo River – Bream are active below the Highway Bridge, biting on local prawn and cut crab.

Nicholson – Around the river mouth for bream, best baits being cut crab and local prawn.

Metung – For bream try the Motel Jetty and around the boardwalk, using local prawn and pipis. Whiting can be found opposite Shaving Point. Salmon and flathead are also around the Boardwalk and higher up into the lake system chasing pilchards and squid. Prawns are running around the Metung and Nungurner areas.

Paynesville/Hollands Landing – Bream are hiding under the jetties structures and boats, for best results use small prawn or an empty number four hook. Flathead have been spotted in the shallows around Raymond Island biting on soft plastics. Prawns are still around the Paynesville area.

Marlo – Flathead, luderick, bream and the occasional mullet can be found in the system, taking pipis and pilchards. Surf beach has tailor and salmon chasing metal lures.

Bemm River – The entrance is now open. Flathead are in the lake and channel chasing soft plastics, with bream are also in the lake system taking local prawn and soft plastics.

Mallacoota – Flathead are biting on pipis, pilchards, squid, lures and soft plastics. Bream are around but not as prevalent, the odd mulloway has also been sighted.

METUNG: Youngsters Cohen and Mason had a great time fishing the boardwalk last week. The day was full of ebbs and flows, nothing for a little bit before being smashed by multiple fish within minutes. The boys caught bream, trevally, pinkies and toadies. The biggest bream was 37 centimetres and the largest trevally 31 centimetres. (PS)
METUNG: Brendan Parry stepped up as a boater for the first time at the Metung round of the Australian Bass Tournament’s Bream Series and landed this 38cm species. (PS)
LOCH SPORT: Young Jake Riky was delighted with his catch last weekend. (PS)
GIPPSLAND LAKES: Joey Bourke was proud of this nice Gippsland flathead, which put up plenty of fight. (PS)
LOCH SPORT: Some weed and plenty of sidewash didn’t stop Judy Harley from landing this ripper. (PS)
