The 2025 school year is well underway at Lakes Entrance Secondary College (LESC), with students and staff settling into a productive and exciting term one.
The year seven students have transitioned smoothly into secondary school life, embracing new routines, subjects and friendships. Meanwhile, the senior students in years 11 and 12 have returned focused and ready for the challenges of their final years.
Some have also begun their VET courses, gaining valuable hands-on experience in their chosen fields.
“We are thrilled to welcome several new teachers and staff to the college, further strengthening our team and ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive,” LESC business manager Melinda Maroney said.
“We also welcome another Koorie Engagement Support Officer, available Monday to Friday, and Relationships Australia Victoria, who will be onsite three days per week. These new additions will further enhance our wellbeing team, providing valuable support to students across the school.”
Term one is shaping up to be a busy and engaging time for everyone. The year seven cohort is eagerly anticipating their camp at the end of February, a fantastic opportunity to build new friendships and confidence. Year 12 students will soon head off to their retreat at Raymond Island, where they will reflect on their goals and prepare for the year ahead.
Additionally, the whole school community is looking forward to the House Swimming Sports on February 19, a highlight on the calendar that always brings out great spirit and enthusiasm.
Beyond the classroom, students will also have the chance to represent the college in East Gippsland cricket, tennis, and volleyball competitions, adding to the many extracurricular opportunities available this term.
“With so much happening, it’s shaping up to be an exciting and productive start to the year. We look forward to keeping our school community updated on all the fantastic things happening at Lakes Entrance Secondary College in 2025,” Melinda said.
