LAKE TYERS: Jet Spinks was delighted to land this 86.5 centimetre flathead, a personal best effort. The upcoming Reel It In - Lake Tyers Flathead Challenge this week has sold out and it will be interesting to see what size fish the event attracts this year. (PS)

LAKE TYERS: Jet Spinks was delighted to land this 86.5 centimetre flathead, a personal best effort. The upcoming Reel It In - Lake Tyers Flathead Challenge this week has sold out and it will be interesting to see what size fish the event attracts this year. (PS)

Fishing continues to be productive in the region, with some some good catches of quality and quantity reported over the past week.

Lakes Entrance: Cunninghame Arm to Metung has seen kingfish and whiting biting well, with local prawn, mussels and pipis the go-to baits. The Footbridge for gurnard, trevally and snapper and surf beaches for gummy shark. Offshore there have been reports of nice-sized gummy and salmon landed. Prawns are still abundant in the lake.

Lake Tyers: Surf beach for salmon using metal lures, pilchards and squid. Don’t be afraid to give Lake Bunga a go as well.

Tambo River: Bream are active below the Highway Bridge biting on local prawn and cut crab.

Metung: For bream try the Motel Jetty and around the boardwalk using local prawn and pipis. Whiting can be found opposite Shaving Point. Salmon and flathead are also around the boardwalk and higher up into the lake system chasing pilchards and squid. Prawns are running around the Metung and Nungurner areas.

OFFSHORE: Boisdale’s Leigh Fulford was more than happy with his reward for his effort on a family holiday to Lakes Entrance last week. (PS)
LAKE TYERS: Neil Simpson worked hard to catch a couple of bream recently. (PS)
LAKE TYERS: Mark Herbel was proud of his recent catch off the the bank, reporting there were plenty of small fish, around the 30 to 32 centimetres, with the best two going 38 and 40, caught on peeled prawn. (PS)
LAKES ENTRANCE: Sam Bordoel and Mitch Brown were well rewarded for their efforts after a recent fishing expedition. (PS)
