For the second consecutive week Sale’s Ben Osmond has ran a personal best time, leading the field home in the Lakes Entrance parkrun held last Saturday morning on the foreshore.

The event saw 120 people run, jog and walk the five kilometre course, of whom 43 were first timers and 22 recorded new personal bests.

Representatives of 11 different clubs took part in the action, as people got their long weekend off to a great start with some exercise.

Osmond crossed the line in 17 minutes and 34 seconds, with Melbourne’s Andrew Johnson (18.10) at his first look at the course finishing second and England’s Josh Sackfield (18.17) third.

The first female across the line was Claire Johnson (20.57) in sixth place overall, also having her first look at the course.

Running groups represented in the event were Lakes and District Runners, Sale and District Runners, Traralgon Harriers, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Mentone Athletics Club, Team Veteran, Wonthaggi Road Runners, TXR Runners, Pakenham Road Runners, Australia Post Group and Everlast Fitness Runners.

Lakes Entrance parkrun started on February 3, 2018. Since then 3645 participants have completed 13,817 parkruns covering a total distance of 69,085km, including 1738 new personal bests, with a total of 262 individuals have volunteered 2084 times.

The run departs every Saturday at 8am from the rotunda.

Youngster Brodie Darcy is embracing park running, completing his 10th on Saturday. (PS)
Local Pariss McKendry was out on the course last Saturday, building up her fitness for netball pre-season. (PS)
